Backlinking Your Articles – Why You Should Be And How To Do It

If you’ve already got a great way for backlinking your articles, then great, you don’t need to read this article. But if you either don’t know what backlinking is, you do know but you aren’t backlinking your articles, or you aren’t getting the results you want from your current backlinking, then you really need to read this post.

Backlinking is something that article marketers do for two main reasons.

  1. It causes your article to move up the rankings in the search engine for the keyword you’re trying to rank for it.
  2.
  3. It causes your article to stay higher in the search engines longer rather than dropping down to nowhere after only a week.

You can see that both of these reasons make backlinking a very important thing. If you’re not backlinking then you’re really wasting time with your hard earned articles, and you probably need to be churning out new articles week after week for the same keywords to keep the traffic coming.

What Is A Backlink?

A backlink is a link on one website that leads to another website. For example, if I had a link on this site that took you too another site, then that would be a backlink for the other site.

What we want for our articles are “one-way” backlinks. This means that I would have a link to the other site, but the other site would NOT have a link back to me. This gives the other site a one-way link, and therefore helps there ranking in the search engines.

If you’re having trouble understanding, basically we want links on other websites that lead to our articles, this will help boost our articles ranking in the search engines, and make it stay up there longer.

How To Backlink Your Articles

Backlinking your articles is actually something that can be pretty simple once you get the hang of it. After a while you get into a certain routine, and you go through the routine every time you publish a new article without even thinking twice about it.

Here are some ways to get the backlinks that you need to your articles.

Social Bookmarking

Sign up for some social bookmarking sites. These are sites that allow you put up a link to something on the web, and allow you to even add a title and a description for it. Just be sure to play it off as if the aritcle you’re linking to is not yours, instead talk about how it’s a neat article you found while searching the web.

Article Directories

Here’s a neat trick that I’ve learned through my marketing. Let’s say you’ve got an article published on ezinearticles and you want to backlink that article. What you can do is take the article and change the title, reword the first sentence, and change up the resource box, and then submit it a bunch of other top article directories. The trick to getting the backlinks is to add a link in the resource box that leads to your ezinearticle. Since most places allow two links, keep the first link leading to whatever website you’re trying to drive traffic to.

Create A Blog

This is something that is not used very often but can be extremely effective. Create a blog at blogger.com and every time you get an article published, take the first 100 words and post it to your blog. Then provide a link at the end of the 100 words leading the full article at the article directory.
