What you do is you choose a product to promote and then receive an “affiliate link”. Whenever someone clicks on your affiliate link they are taken to the sales page of the product. If they buy the product then you get the commission since they reached the sales page through your affiliate link.
Another type of home-based Internet business is blogging. Blogging requires a lot of dedication and consistency to make it work but it is still a great form of income. Many people online are currently making full-time incomes just from blogging. Like I said though, a blog takes a wild to build up credibility and a consistent reader base. You make money from a blog by advertising on the side.
You can also make a full-time income online by creating a membership site. With a membership site you charge people a monthly fee to access your site. This is a great way to make a recurring income month after month, but you must be sure that the information on your site is worth paying for.
